A GREEN LEADER
Ljubljana is one of Europe’s shining examples of urban sustainability. Crowned European Green Capital in 2016, the city has transformed itself into a model for green mobility, zero-waste goals, and nature-friendly planning. Nearly three-quarters of its surface is green space, and bold measures like closing the city centre to cars have helped cut emissions and make Ljubljana a delightfully walkable place.

CITY OF DRAGONS
Beyond its green credentials, Ljubljana has a mythical side — it’s famously the city of dragons. Dragons appear on the city’s iconic Dragon Bridge, its coat of arms, souvenirs, and even pastries. Legend says Jason and the Argonauts slayed a dragon here on their way back from the Golden Fleece, and the creature has guarded Ljubljana’s identity ever since.
GETTING TO LJUBLJANA

Ljubljana is easily accessible by international trains from major European cities. All trains arrive at the central Ljubljana Railway Station, just a short walk from the city center.

Frequent and affordable international bus connections are available, including routes operated by FlixBus and other major providers. Buses arrive at the Ljubljana Bus Station, located next to the train station.
✈️ By Plane:
The nearest airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU), 25 km from the city. You can reach the center by shuttle, bus, or taxi in about 30–45 minutes. Nearby airports in Trieste, Zagreb, and Venice also offer convenient transfer options.
