Former CEO of Salpakierto Ltd (formerly Päijät-Häme Waste Management Ltd) | Lahti | Finland

For 26 years, Tuula Honkanen has been the CEO of Salpakierto Ltd (formely known as Päijät-Häme Waste Management Ltd, PHJ). The municipalities in Lahti region incorporated PHJ in 1993 and Tuula was the first CEO in the company. Together with her employees and the people in the municipalities, she both planned the new waste strategy for the Lahti region and made it happen. Since its establishment, PHJ has taken bold and innovative steps to promote recycling and the circular economy and to protect the environment.
