Thekla Walker is an active player in environmental protection, nature conservation, economy modernisation, and the promotion of educational equality. Her enthusiasm for and involvement in environmental policy started by producing radio programmes on a variety of topics for the Greenpeace group in Stuttgart as well as documentaries for international climate change conferences.
Her involvement in nature conservation led Thekla into politics in 2009, when she has held positions as: a member of the Stuttgart city council for Alliance 90/The Greens; chairperson of the state association of the Greens in Baden-Württemberg; deputy chairperson of the Green parliamentary group; and spokesperson for financial policy and animal welfare policy. Since 2016, Thekla has sat as a directly elected representative in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.
