Melanie Kunzmann aspires to answer important questions like: how can the goals of a sustainable city been implemented by the public sector, and what innovative and efficient methods will transform the public building stock for a climate-neutral future? She has been dealing with these questions in numerous projects, in municipalities and public organisations. For more than a decade, this architect and real estate manager has supported the public sector with urban and integrated district development, sustainable building, cooperation, funding, and lifecycle approaches. She therefore combines a deep knowledge of public planning, building, and authorisation processes with forward-thinking project approaches. Within the framework of the German Development and Resilience Plan, which is implemented by the German Federal Ministry of Finance, Melanie is responsible for the development of solutions that remove obstacles in the German funding landscape. Together with her team, she advises funding bodies and recipients, and supports them to optimise programme design guidelines for the built environment. At Urban Future, Melanie will present a thesis, "To build or not to build”, explain hands-on methods for planning to meet future demands, and show projects that bring the idea of sustainable development to life.
