Matt Stewart

Innovation & Incubator Lead at Jacobs | USA

Matt Stewart considers infrastructure as the backbone of cities as it keeps us alive, connected, and safe, and it can unlock our potential in astounding ways. Infrastructure design that considers broader equitable outcomes and new technologies in the right way can help us reach the future we want: greener, more resilient, and more inclusive. Innovative approaches to creating more liveable, vibrant cities through infrastructure are Matt’s great passion – besides swimmable rivers. As Co-Founder of Melbourne’s Yarra Pools project, he started the conversation around bringing the city’s river back to health and making it swimmable. Yarra Pools have engaged over 100 local organisations and thousands of Melburnians, showing optimism to swim in the river in the near future. In his current role as Incubator Lead at Jacobs in New York, Matt helps fast-track the development of the latest technologies and urban infrastructure solutions to ensure cities are serving the need of their growing populations: more equitably, carbon free, and resilient to climate change.
