Lilla Gerencsér
Head of Operations at Rév8 Zrt. | Hungary
Lilla Gerencsér will not wait for other people to take the lead on change. She strongly believes that we need cities with vision and forward thinking as the environment around us has an effect on quality of life. As Head of Operations for Rév8, she uses tactical urbanism to create liveable, just, and inviting public spaces where everyone can feel so safe, the streets are like their living room, she says. This includes redesigning neighbourhoods to add traffic calming, pedestrian plazas, and community spaces that create an environment where everyone feels connected and welcome.
Infrastructure is only the tool, and the physical changes Rév8 puts in place are so common sense that they may not even be noticed. But Lilla’s work often results in people finding a new community, a place they love, or simply the feeling of being taken into consideration. For people who are used to being excluded, it’s grounds for trust building and much better opportunities.
“Our impact is sometimes very small – just a smile or an unexpected chat,” Lilla says. “However, if we have done our jobs well, it can mean a lot more.”
