Laura Maria Diaz Ospina
Graphic Designer, Facilitator & Researcher at BABLE Smart Cities GmbH | Germany
Laura Maria Diaz Ospina works at BABLE as a graphic designer, researcher, and facilitator in the field of smart cities and urban strategies. She contributes to a diverse range of projects with her expertise in visual design and strategy. Also, Laura has collaborated with the Klima community platform as a visual designer to help their engagement. Her experience in field research and developing urban proposals alongside communities and stakeholders has furnished Laura with the necessary skills she needs to integrate research, visual communication, and practical solutions to tackle urban, social, and environmental challenges. That has helped her understand the complexity of urban dynamics and the interconnection between civil society, policies, and governmental willingness. Laura has been engaged on multiple environmental and social projects as a local expert, designer, and researcher. She has worked with interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams in different contexts and locations, including Colombia, Germany, and Egypt in projects that focus on sustainability, urban strategies, and climate and behavioural change with organisation such as Ecocity builders, UNEP, Greenish Dachverband Entwicklungspolitik Baden-Württemberg, and DEAB e.V. As a speaker, Laura has addressed audiences at the COY 11 (conference of youth) in Paris, and at COP21 delivering her speech ‘graphic design as an awareness tool’. Additionally, she co-founded a design studio in Medellin, Columbia where she has raised environmental awareness by designing sustainable products and creating communication strategies. Laura holds a double master's degree in Integrated Urbanism & Sustainable Design and a Bachelor's in graphic design.
