Head of Climate Protection Office at the state capital Stuttgart | Germany

Jan Kohlmeyer has been in charge of the Climate Protection Office of the state capital Stuttgart since 2020. His team coordinates Stuttgart's Climate Roadmap 2035, its 200 million euro climate action programme, and the 13 million Euro Stuttgart Climate Innovation Fund. The Climate Protection Office is also responsible for managing the city's award winning climate communication campaign #jetztklimachen, for the citizens' assembly 'Bürgerrat Klima' and for developing strategies for a circular economy and a climate-friendly food system. From 2013 to 2020, Jan was a member of the management team at the energy provider Stadtwerke Böblingen. From 2009 until 2012, he was managing director of the energy provider Stadtwerke Pulheim. Several projects he initiated - regarding heating, districts, mobility, buildings or innovation - have received funding from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment or from the German government in the "Innovations for the Energy Transition" programme. Jan holds a degree in physics.
