Elena Simion

International Projects Expert & CapaCITIES Coordinator at UEFISCD | Romania

Elena Simion is the International Projects Expert at UEFISCDI, and has for the past decade been working as a development and implementation expert in international projects. This sees her take part in the design of policy recommendations, innovation funding instruments, and new policy development projects. Currently, Elena is the coordinator of the Horizon Europe CSA CapaCITIES (Building Capacities for the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission), leading a consortium of more than 60 partners and associated partners committed to work together to advance the Mission Cities’ implementation in 15 European countries. Her other experience includes working on initiatives funded under Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, FP7, Interreg Europe, Danube Transnational Programme and ERA-NETs, such as Smart Energy Systems and Smart Grids Plus. She also acted as a delegate for UEFISCDI to the Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe Management Board and to the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership Management Board.
