Dagur Bergþóruson Eggertsson

Dagur B. Eggertsson M.D. is the Mayor of Reykjavík. He was originally elected to the Reykjavik City Council in 2002 and was the vice-chairman of the Social Democratic Alliance until shortly before taking office in 2014. Most recently, he took over as Chair of the OECD Champion Mayors for Inclusive Growth Initiative, a coalition created within the broader OECD Inclusive Growth Initiative, in recognition of the important role local leaders play in addressing inequalities within their cities. Dagur studied, trained, and worked as a physician and has a master‘s degree in Human Rights and International Law.
