Mayor for Urban Building, Planning and Development & First Mayor at Universitätsstadt Tübingen | Germany

Cord Soehlke is a lecturer, trained architect, former freelance journalist, and has even worked in public relations, planning, and marketing for the Tübingen-Südstadt Development Project.

For almost a decade, Cord headed the Office of Municipal Development and Urban Rehabilitation in Tübingen, Germany, where he was also the executive director for property development at the Tübingen Economic Development Agency. There, he was responsible for developing the Südstadt’s former military zone, an old industrial area, Alexander Park, and the historic textile district.

Cord has held office in Tuebingen twice: once as Mayor for Urban Building, Planning and Development and, after re-election, First Major. Under his tenure, Tuebingen has a focus on small-scale, mixed sustainable urban development and non-car-oriented traffic strategies.
