Vienna was chosen the most liveable city in the world for the second year running and as Head of the Department for Urban District Planning and Land Use, Bernhard Steger is more than proud that the work of his department has helped to lay the groundwork for this development. One important aspect when it comes to liveability is – among others – housing affordability. Since 2018, Vienna has therefore introduced a new zoning category (“area for subsidized housing”), which is limiting the prize for the land in order to build social housing.

Bernhard considers it a privilege to actively contribute to the development of a green, social and innovative city, which is also his motivation for always giving his best.
