Mehmet Kalyoncu
Founder & Board Trustee at Turkish Design Council, Initiator of GHUSO | Turkey
Mehmet Kalyoncu is an architect, businessperson, civil society leader and composer.
He studied architecture at Istanbul Technical University and is pursuing an Executive MSc in Cities at LSE. Studied executive programmes at Harvard and Tufts.
In 2016, he founded the Türkiye Design Council (TTV) to empower the design ecosystem. He also led the Hatay Revitalisation Plan after the 2023 earthquake as a humanitarian collaborative effort including local, national and international stakeholders.
He is now launching GHUSO (Global Humane Urbanism Support Organisation), a global initiative focused on humane urban recovery.
He played a key role in the development of İGA Istanbul Airport, serving as a Board Member of both İGA and Kalyon Holding. He is also actively involved in the real estate sector in both Türkiye and the UK through his company, Kalyon Cities.
Passionate about music, he has composed 12 pieces.
