Enno Schmidt is an advocate for a universal basic income (UBI) and convinced that its introduction would lead to a change in behaviour and consciousness, opportunities and the culture in all cities and rural areas. He founded the initiative for a UBI in Basel, Switzerland and, together with Daniel Häni, brought it to a national referendum. Apart from that, Enno further co-created the Freiburg Institute for Basic Income Studies, which is also targeting the implementation of UBI.
Why all this? If basic needs are covered, people might finally be inspired to trust themselves, get up and take responsibility for themselves.
